What is bone plastic?
This is a procedure to build up the insufficient volume of the bone layer at the site of the intended implant placement.
If the examination before implantation shows a lack of bone in width or height, the patient may need bone grafting.
Indications for bone grafting during implantation:
- Long-term absence of teeth. Provokes atrophy and reduction of the volume of the tubular bone.
- Injury or difficult tooth extraction. Leads to bone loss in the width and height of the alveolar ridge in the area of the dental roots.
- Anatomical features of the jaw system. The large maxillary sinus and thin alveolar ridge in the lower jaw do not allow immediate placement of implants after removal of dental units.
- Periodontitis and periodontal disease. These pathologies are accompanied by active destruction of bone tissue and in some cases require restoration of the lost volume.
