Caries treatment

Caries is a pathology that is triggered by external and internal factors. Against this background, the tooth surface is damaged and a “hole” appears. The pathological process develops in two stages. At an early stage, a stain appears, the latter is characterized by the occurrence of hard tooth tissues. The disease progresses very quickly and the lesion reaches the pulp, so you need to consult a doctor in a timely manner, even if nothing bothers you. Treatment of caries in its advanced form is a very complex process that can lead to serious consequences. The possibilities of modern dentistry allow to treat caries at any stages. In our clinic, the treatment of ailment is carried out painlessly and as comfortable as possible for patients.

Causes and signs of pathology

The development of caries is explained by the impact of pathogenic microorganisms that are present in the plaque. It is caused by the consumption of carbohydrate foods, which is the main component of the human diet. If time does not get rid of this problem, there is increased reproduction of microbes. Bacteria begin to intensively produce acid, wash out nutrients from the enamel of the teeth. Over time, this surface begins to become softer, and microorganisms get deeper into the enamel, as a result of which damage occurs.

The occurrence of the disease is also directly related to non-compliance with the principles of hygiene, genetic predisposition and state of health. In addition, the fault may be nutritional errors, the abuse of sweets and the state of the nervous system. Caries makes itself felt such manifestations:

  • darkening on enamel;
  • the occurrence of roughness on the teeth;
  • sensitivity with the abuse of sweets, as well as hot and cold food;
  • bad smell of the mouth.

Pathology can so severely damage the teeth that the pulp can be affected, causing nerves and blood vessels to suffer.

Treatment of caries

How long the filling will last depends on the quality of the material, as well as the experience of the doctor. It is important that during the therapy the lesions are completely removed, and the tooth enamel is not damaged. Highly qualified doctors with extensive experience practice in our clinic. They managed to solve hundreds of problems, after which all patients remained satisfied. Stages of caries treatment:

  1. Enamel cleaning from dental plaque, hard and soft deposits and plaque are removed from the teeth.
  2. After plaque removal, the color of the patient’s teeth is determined in order to choose the correct filling material.
  3. If necessary, anesthesia is performed. It is necessary when deeply damaged carious tissues are drilled.
  4. Drilling the edges of the enamel that overhangs the area of caries, all the damaged dentin is removed.
  5. The tooth is isolated from the ingress of saliva and the cavity is treated with medicines.
  6. When treating the interdental surface, the lateral side of the tooth is restored.
  7. The next procedure is etching, i.e. treatment of dentin and enamel with acid. Enamel and dentin are treated with gel to fix photopolymer fillings.
  8. An insulating gasket is placed under the seal.
  9. Filling and restoring the original shape of the tooth.
  10. The last stage is polishing the surfaces.

Prices for caries treatment in our clinic are calculated for average Ukrainians. Loyalty programs are provided for regular patients.

Popular questions about caries

Is there a genetic predisposition to tooth decay?

Unfortunately yes. Even children get caries. Only weakly mineralized enamel is easily susceptible to the carious process. Even with a tendency to caries, the condition of the teeth can be significantly improved if they are properly cared for.

Why does caries appear in the same places?

It is easiest for bacteria to hide in the natural recesses of the tooth: in fissures, between the teeth, where it is difficult to reach with a brush. We pay little attention to these areas, allowing cavities to grow and develop. And one fine day we understand that root canal treatment is inevitable. To prevent this from happening, you should not be lazy to take care of your oral cavity.

Is it necessary to periodically change the toothpaste?

Definitely. Toothpaste should not be the same all year round - it should be changed periodically. We recommend having several toothpastes. It is better to alternate them and not focus on any one.

Small matte spots are visible on the front teeth. Is it caries?

Matte spots are not always the beginning of the carious process. This can be both a feature of the enamel structure and the beginning of the development of other dental diseases. In any case, it is better to come for a consultation with a specialist, where you will get a comprehensive answer.

How does caries affect our body?

Caries is, first of all, a bacterial infection of the oral cavity, which leads first to the destruction of tooth enamel, and later to the loss of teeth. This infection then leads to the development of pulpitis, periodontitis, periodontitis, and tooth loss. The health of the teeth greatly affects the general condition of the body.

Is it possible to clean the tongue with a toothbrush?

You can, but be careful. Too hard bristles of your toothbrush can damage the mucous membrane of the tongue.
